Pou Whakairo / Whangarei Boys’ High School
The newly built Whangarei Boys’ High School features cultural artwork in the form of Pou Whakairo located at the new entrance off Western Hills Drive - we put together the custom made bases which secure them to the ground.
Using 12mm steel plate, formed and welded to shape (with each pou differing in size and circumference) we created these support bases, delivered and installed them to the concrete foundations at the new school site.
Each pou depicts the school’s values and all five together follow the journeys of the students from when they first start high school and their learning goals, through to their outcomes and achievements on receiving their tohu (certificates) when they leave.
As part of the wider WBHS construction job we also put together stainless steel covers for electrical and plumbing work around the new and old parts of the school, as well as fabricating and installing stainless steel flashings for the school’s new elevator units.
If you have any stainless steel, construction or art installation work that needs to be completed get in touch with HBI and see where we can help.
