Beekeeping Suzuki 4x4 Conversion

A current R&D project for a local beekeeping customer, developing the perfect off-road tool for site servicing and extracting hives from remote areas.

With a number of unsuccessful attempts at using ‘off the shelf’ buggies and ATV’s (which often break easily or get stuck on the farm) we put together this old 1.6 Manual 4x4 Suzuki Vitara; converting it into an agricultural monster.

We stripped back the shell and cut the body converting it into a single cab ute with a deck big enough for hive extraction - fabricating and installing an electric winch crane capable of lifting up to 500kg.

We also installed (and converted) the older style differential with a pneumatic diff locker, mounting a new air compressor with a stretchy air-line for site use and cleaning.

3D CAD Designed Laser-Cut hub extenders converted the original 5-stud hubs to carry a 6-stud steel wheel, wrapped in massive 33X10.5 CST CL-18 Land Dragon Tyres.

Suspension was modified with new bigger custom springs, along with a number of safety features added including roll bars and window nets, seatbelt harnesses as well as new waterproof seat covers.

At the front we put together a removable recovery winch mount and front bar assembly, Battery upgrade was essential along with new wiring. The Motor & Radiator both flushed and serviced with new gaskets and hotter plugs installed.
